GANDHIGIRI IN KOLHAPUR !!!
Inspired by the "Lage Raho Munna Bhai" fever & continuing the nation wide trend, Kolhapurkars also tried doing protests in 'Gandhigiri' style. However as there was no 'Munna Bhai' with 'Bapu' standing behind him, the protesters made some 'non-gandhigiri' act & got arrested for the same.
Every alternate Monday at Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) is followed as "Public Complaint Redressal Day". Complaints of general public are suppose to be heard and thus solved. This however is just on paper and practically nothing really happens. So some of the local socialites thought of protesting against this and yes of course with Gandhigiri. So some people gathered at KMC and started giving a red rose to every presumably corrupt official at KMC. Things were quite well and Gandhigiri seemed to work just fine. However the trouble started when the protesters expressed their wish to give a rose to the Commissioner and the commissioner was not in office due to some out of office work. The protestors insisted on giving the rose by hand. Later when they realised that it was not possible, they insisted on placing the Rose on the table in the cabin of Commissioner. The protesters not only insisted but tried to go in forcibly "in came non-gandhigiri" The said act was termed 'disturbing the functioning of government activities' and thus the protesters got arrested and were kept so for a day.
This and many other incidences all over the nation suggest that people are ready to follow the Gandhian ideology, but no one is ready to understand it first. The movie has affected the public to some extent and the public also has reacted upon the concept induced into there unconscious mind. But still the complete principles and the method to follow them need to be learned. Then only will ‘Gandhigiri’ be truely effective and useful.
